The sea trials for Ocean Victory and Ocean Explorer, the third and fourth Infinity-class units, began on 22 January 2021. It consisted of five days of intensive testing in the South China Sea of each vessel's system while underway.
Over 150 people were on board each vessel during the trials, from the shipyard, Bureau Veritas, managers' crew (CMI), and SunStone Marine Advisors.
Ships of the Infinity class are 104 meters long, 18 meters wide, and have a 5.1 meter draft. They have a passenger capacity of 130-200 and a crew capacity of 85 and 115.
The vessels are Ice Class 1A, Polar Code 6 and are being designed with safe port return, dynamic positioning and stabilizers of zero velocity.
“We are looking forward to continuing our relationships with all our partners in the Infinity-class project and we, even considering the continued COVID-19 world crisis, are moving fast forward as planned at very satisfactory speed, safety and quality level,” said Niels-Erik Lund, SunStone CEO.
Last year, Ocean Victory and Ocean Explorer were introduced in March and August, respectively.
Ocean Victory, Ocean Explorer and Sylvia Earle with deliveries in 2021, Ocean Odyssey and Ocean Albatros in 2022, and Ocean Discoverer in 2023 are existing Infinity newbuilds ongoing after the delivery of Greg Mortimer. Both ordered vessels have long-term charter contracts in place.
