Five containers were booked at South Korean Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), another five at Hudong-Zhonghua in China, while the remaining 10 were ordered from Japanese shipbuilder Imabari via an agreement with Shoei Kisen, the shipowning and leasing arm of the yard.
“Evergreen continually studies various types of vessels and will place order or charter most suitable vessels depending on market requirement. Evergreen is continuing with fleet renewal program for the purpose of optimizing service quality and competitiveness,” company announced in its latest statement.
The company already has 20 new buildings on order, including ten container ships of 23,000 TEUs at three different yards and ten smaller containers with shipments distributed over 2021 and 2022.
