“This new addition to the fleet will further entrench our global footprint of ship owning in the dry bulk/ container segment and deployment, which is a result of strong fundamentals and confidence in the growth of shipping and logistics sector,” stated Ramesh Ramakrishnan, chairman of Transworld Group.
TBC Passion is the latest name for the 47,100 dwt Japanese-built vessel. Transworld Group, which has traditionally been a feeder boxship owner and operator, has recently expanded its bulker fleet. This latest purchase follows the company's purchase of another useful bulker, Turquoise Ocean, from another Japanese owner, Santoku Senpaku.
The recent investments are a result of the company's deep confidence in the bulk carrier business and handies, and it plans to keep a close eye on the S&P markets for potential opportunities, according to the company.
The Transworld Group now has a fleet of 25 ships.
