Cincinnati is the Navy's newest littoral combat ship and fifth ship to carry the namesake, continuing a distinguished maritime legacy.
More than 1,400 guests attended the ceremony for the fifth ship in naval service named for Cincinnati, the third-largest city in Ohio. For the first time in 24 years, a ship bearing Cincinnati’s name will sail in the United States Navy.
"USS Cincinnati and her crew will play an important role in the defense of our nation and maritime freedom. She stands as proof of what teamwork -from civilian to contractor to military- can accomplish,” Secretary of the Navy Richard V. Spencer stated.
