The planned work includes the furnishing of general supplies, shipboard entry, clean and gas-free tank voids and cofferdams, the preservation of aft ballast and cargo tanks as well as the flight deck, overhaul repairs to main engine turbochargers and HP air compressor, the removal of weapons and falls, the cleaning and painting of hull freeboard and underwater hull and on-going repair systems.
The contract contains options that will bring the overall contract value to $22.186.509 if exercised.
Work is to be finished by July 2020.
USNS Guadalupe is run by the Sealift Military Command supporting the U.S. Navy ships, operating in the United States Pacific Fleet.
Avondale Shipyard, Inc., constructed the 14th Henry J. Kaiser class ship, Guadalupe, in New Orleans, and launched in October 1991. The vessel joined the uncommissioned U.S. Navy operation in September 1992 under the supervision of the Sealift Military Command, with a predominantly civilian crew.
