“Effective use of smart marine technology by mariners and shore staff is a critical component of its successful implementation and ensures a smooth transition from traditional methods of operation,” stated Sean Fernback, president of Wartsila Voyage.
Wärtsilä Voyage and OTG will provide a single end-to-end learning journey for industry stakeholders in maritime learning, combining on-demand digital training and evaluation, virtual and simulation events via cloud-based solutions, and in-person learning experiences at maritime training centers or on-board ships.
The partnership initially makes the cloud simulation services and training catalog of Wärtsilä Voyage accessible through the recently announced Ocean Learning Platform of OTG.
Wärtsilä's combined customer pool of over 3,000 shipping companies and training centers, plus well over 1 million seafarers, will be able to access training, assessment and certification from anywhere in the world on an on-demand basis, at any time.
In 2018, Wärtsilä added Russian simulation giant Transas to its diverse product portfolio. It claims that Wärtsilä Voyage now offers the widest portfolio of smart marine products on the market.
