The ship is the fourth unit of the INFINITY class of X-BOW expedition ships, all designed by Ulstein.

Ocean Explorer's sister vessels are Greg Mortimer, which was launched in September 2019, Ocean Victory scheduled for delivery in October 2020 and Ocean Discoverer scheduled for delivery in September 2022.

In total, SunStone Ships has ordered six ULSTEIN CX103 expedition cruise vessels for construction at the CMHI shipyard.

The keel-laying ceremony for the Sylvia Earle vessel, named after an accomplished marine biologist, oceanographer, conservationist and explorer, was conducted in July 2020. Sylvia Earle is expected to be delivered in 2021.

Ocean Explorer will run on the Vantage Cruise Line and is expected to be launched in 2021.

The vessels are based on the design of the ULTTEIN CX103, but individual adaptations can be made.

The vessels of the Infinity Class are 104.4 meters long and 18.4 meters tall. We have a capacity of 130-200 passengers and a capacity of 85-115 crew members.
