Svitzer Australia receives third and final tug Svitzer Wilu
Svitzer Wilu, the third and final new state-of-the-art tug, arrived in Geraldton, joining Svitzer North and Svitzer Abrolhos to form the new fleet.
The vessel Svitzer Wilu was named in honor of the Mid West's rich indigenous heritage after a group naming competition conducted in collaboration with the Mid West Ports Authority. ‘Wilu' is an Aboriginal word that means ‘sea, seaside, or salt water,' and was submitted as a competition nomination by a member of the group.
Svitzer Wilu is 30 meters long, with a bollard pull of 70 tons and enhanced safety features such as advanced firefighting capabilities on board.
“Svitzer Australia is very pleased to welcome the arrival of Svitzer Wilu and we look forward to mobilising our new, state of the art fleet in the port of Geraldton and continuing our relationship with Mid West Ports Authority as their towage provider," said Svitzer General Manager – West Jodie Ransom.
