Wärtsilä to design new cruise ships for Amundsen Expeditions
Wärtsilä announced that it has built a tailored design for up to six new luxury exploration cruise vessels mainly aimed at the Chinese market.
Wärtsilä, who booked the design order in the third quarter of 2019, said the idea was created by her in-house ship design team working closely with Amundsen Expeditions. Every vessel will have the capacity to hold 200 passengers.
The vessels are planned to be fitted with a full set of Wärtsilä solutions, including 32 engines from Wärtsilä, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems for emission reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx), electrical propulsion, navigation and communication bridge system from Wärtsilä Nacos Platinum, and automation solutions from Wärtsilä.
